Cottage Jewel not only is the only antique store in Danville, but also has very unique classes taught on site. Marcia Harmon, owner originally was trained in jewelry design and uses this talent and eye of color and design to host these wonderful Wednesday afternoon classes in her store.

I made the cutest bracelets, one for my grandaughter as a Valentine gift and one for a little friends birthday. Marcia has various buttons and beads to choose from or you may bring buttons, charms to make something special.

There are other classes available - go to www.cottagejewel.com for more information.

Testimonial Danville Fall Craft Festival

Danville Fall Craft Festival

This fall brought an incredible Fine Arts Fair along with great weather! People really seemed in the mood to spend money on holiday decorations along with basic home furnishings. I don’t know if it was the pent up frustration of so many months of non-spending or just the great spirit of the day. More and more, the Fine Arts Fair has become a place to see and be seen. The people of Danville seem just to like each others company and enjoy the weekend.

At Design Elements which is right in the center of the action, we decided to cash in on the fun and it really worked. My outgoing, brilliant, and gorgeous daughter, Heather Janofsky donned a costume that looked like a chest of drawers with a leopard lampshade on her head. This costume was called “One Night Stand”. She walked the street and stood out in front of the store handing out flyers about our sale. With the splash that we made with her presence, we had the biggest Fine Arts Weekend that we have ever had! She enjoyed the meet and greet and we enjoyed the sales. She received commission on all that was sold, so she was a happy little night stand!

The interesting end result was people came back the next Saturday and purchased items they saw the week prior and did so without a complaint that the items were now not on sale. The upshot is, providing interest and splash sure makes an impression on the consumer.

Rakestraw Books

Michael, of Rakestraw Books has generously donated 5 boxes of books to Diablo Lodge. Most of our residents are voracious readers and they were thrilled to have such a bounty. This is such an important part of our resident's lives.

We have set up a table for residents to select a book of their choice and when they are finished they can bring it to the library to share with the rest of their neighbors.

This is why Danville is such a wonderful place to work and live. Neighbors sharing what they have with others.
Thank you Michael for your thoughtfulness and your sharing with our Senior Community.

Across The Universe Web Design

Linda Jimerson of Across the Universe Web Design did a tremendous job of developing a website for the San Ramon Regional Hospital Foundation. She was pleasant to work with and was also extremely helpful in helping us determine the best content for the site.

Linda has a very keen eye for design so that the finished product is very attractive and easy to use. We are proud to tell people to take a look at our website.

When I first brought the website to the Board while it was still under development they were very impressed, both with how quickly it had been put together and also how well. When I showed them the finished product a month or so later they were totally impressed.

I can honestly say that Linda has helped to put the Foundation “on the map” in terms of our internet presence and we are very pleased with her efforts on our behalf

Canary Marketing and Stephenson Welsh Insurance

Since moving our insurance benefits to Stephenson Welsh Insurance Services in 2006 the level of service from Brian Stephenson and Bob Welsh has been impeccable. They are consistently looking at ways to help our company save money with our benefits packages while maintaining or improving the quality of our benefits. At a personal level they do not hesitate to help all insured individuals with specific questions and needs when necessary and in a timely manner. Their professionalism far exceeds brokers I have dealt with in the past and it is great working with another small business in the community.

Down Syndrome Connection and Summit Financial Group Equals Chance Meeting

Chance Meeting, By Nancy LaBelle

I had just started my new job as Executive Director of a local non-profit called the Down Syndrome Connection of the Bay Area (DSCBA) and I was looking forward to networking with other chamber members. It was by chance that I attended the Annual State of the Town Luncheon. Was it by chance that I met chamber member and Financial Advisor Steve Wilcox with Summit Financial Group? Steve and I sat at the same table for lunch and began to talk about each other’s businesses. I gave Steve a very brief overview of our mission and he opened not only his ears but his heart when he heard about who we served and why.

About two weeks after the luncheon, Steve visited the DSCBA to inform us that his financial group puts on an annual charity golf tournament, auction and dinner for a worthy cause and that he and his partners have chosen the DSCBA. How generous! We were thrilled! Through the process we got to know all of the wonderful folks at Summit Financial Group and their families and it was an amazing event coordinated by Kimberlee Kelso that raised over $16,000 for our organization.

Chamber members such as Dr. Jess Pontious donated items for the auction and he and chamber CEO Melony Newman came out to swing their clubs in support of this event. Thank you to Summit Financial partners Steve Wilcox, Don Ledoux, and Nathan Bennett for their compassion and their support of our mission.

Thanks Tae, Father Nature's Restaurant

The Danville Area Chamber Ambassadors wish to thank Tae Pak, the owner of Father Nature’s and his staff, for the fabulous breakfast he prepared for our Christmas Party. It was absolutely delicious. If anyone went away hungry it was their own fault!

We were impressed with the choices we had to choose from… a beautiful display of food; bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs, hashed brown potatoes, a mountain of strawberries, orange juice and all the coffee you could drink. Truly a breakfast fit for a king!! All this had to be prepared by eight o’clock in the morning how did you do it?

Karen Kehr recommends Karen the Organizer

I am giving a testemonial for Karen the Organizer. My walk in closet at home needed some serious attention. The organizing system we had up on the walls in the closet had started to fall off, and I didn't know where to start with redoing it. I had Karen come meet me at my house for an initial consultation. She had so many good ideas for organizing not only my closet but other parts of the house as well. Some of her suggestions I've already implemented and the whole process is going to be much less expensive than I had expected. I plan on using Karen going forward to help with organizing other projects in my home. I have already given her name to several of my friends. She can be reached at KSO@KarenTheOrganizer.com

Embroidery For You enjoys the Business Expo

Member Testimonial

I would like for you to know that the Business Expo was very helpful in generating business for our new store. We received many leads that we will follow up on including the following: A real estate company came in and looked at some items that I had done for another real estate company and wanted me to create something for them. The expo was in a great location. The set up was easy and efficient and of course everyone was very nice and helpful.
