Reflecting on 2007
It’s hard to believe that my term is coming to an end. It’s already the holiday season and the board is planning for 2008. Sadly, this will be my final column for the Progress. The year seems to have flown by. I would like to take this time to reflect on 2007:
We began the year with our annual Installation Dinner where our Board of Directors was installed. In addition, we presented awards to the Business person, the Citizen and the Educator of the year for 2006. I hope you will take the time to nominate a worthy person for 2007.
Kim Lindeberg with the Last Detail served as VC of Promotions. As most of you know, this is a very busy position on our board but she managed to oversee our Street Fairs, Golf Tournament, Business Showcase beautifully and with ease. They were very successful!
Chris Edlund with Christe James Fine Jewelry Works, is our VC of Economic Affairs. She started the year off with our Entrepreneurial Expo that surpassed any of our goals. She continued with our State of the Town luncheon as well as the ‘Future of the Danville Area” luncheon.
Karen Kehr has been enhancing our Membership benefi ts as Vice Chair. She continued a second year to oversee our member to member reward program and make it even better. One of her goals was to see the capability of joining the Chamber on our website—which is now an option. We have added two prospective mixers as another way to learn more about the Chamber.
Our Board is made up some dynamic business leaders in our community. Joe Combs, Rich Wood, Guy Greco and Steve Wilcox have been overseeing our marketing committee.
Steve has been the leader guiding this committee. We look forward to rolling out our plans at the 2008 Installation dinner Feb. 7th, at Round Hill Country Club.
I have enjoyed serving the Chamber as Chairman of the board and working with the staff.
I continue to look forward and sharing the “past” and planning the “future” with each of you...
Warmest Regards,
Diane Slater
2007 Chairman of the Board
