Maximize Your Membership

I have always believed that one of the best ways to gain real value from my membership is from Chamber sponsored events. A really good event is a Ribbon Cutting. I like to think of them as mini mixers and a chance to meet new people in a non-threatening way that may someday be important to my business. Equally important, I have been able to find new products and services that have been immediately helpful to my bottom line. Nancy and I subscribe to the philosophy of buying from a Chamber Member first. Why not? We have to buy our business and personal stuff from someone, why not a Chamber Member? In the business referral game, we believe very strongly that you have to G-I-V-E! if you want to G-E-T! It really works and besides, Amazon.com never gave me a referral, but Chamber Members do.

Our ribbon cutting events culminate with a symbolic group ribbon cutting photo which is made available to the press. If you are on a tight advertising budget, it’s a really nice way to possibly get your photo in the local news and Chamber Publications. We have had 3 this year: Anatomy Power, Danville Chocolates and H&R Block. Each of these events was extremely well attended by our members good for the hosts and the attendees. Please visit www.danvilleareachamber.com at the beginning of each month and pull up our events calendar. Feel free to bring a friend or a potential new member. If not, come any way and talk to me or an ambassador. In no time, you will have a rolodex full of new friends and business associates.

Sincerely,

Joe Combs

Chairman of the Board 2010

P.S. Last month, I inadvertently left two important people off my list of returning Board Members, Joe Buenavista and Jess Pontious. Gentlemen, you have my sincere apology.
