Local Businesses Depend On You

From the President’s Desk
To our valued Members,
I look forward to this time of the year! The temperature is cooler and the leaves are beginning to change color. It’s not only a seasonal change but it means gearing up for the holidays. People’s attitudes reflect anticipation of family gatherings, travel, gift giving and celebration. It’s unlike the other seasons.
Please keep in mind our local businesses when making that gift purchase, sharing a meal or booking a company party. Our local businesses depend on you. Shopping and doing business locally has an impact on the economic vitality of our community.
On another note, this is the time of year that we meet with potentially new Board members. There is a rotation of members as they reach the end of their terms, therefore keeping a balance of seasoned members along with some new board members each year. We generally seek those individuals who are actively involved and have served on committees. If your goal is to be a part of our distinguished Board of Directors, please let me know. I can help guide you in that direction in the future. In addition, this is the time of year to think about individuals who stand out in the community. Please keep in mind that during our installation dinner in February 2009, we recognize an Educator of the year, Business person and Citizen of the year for 2008.
The Marketing committee continues to move forward. It has played a vital role of the Chamber for 2008.
I look forward to proudly serving you and the business community.
Melony Newman
President and CEO
