So a Woman walked into THAT BAR…Well I did but before I did I need to start at the beginning…

It was a beautiful chilly Saturday morning. Matt and I donned our walking shoes and headed out the door, down “heartbreak hill”, 1.5 miles into town. A diversion into the new FRESH N EASY shopping center to check out the new SHERWIN WILLIAMS paint store. We were greeted immediately and by the time we walked out had picked out paint for our guest bathroom to be picked up later (keep in mind we are walking!) and all at a 40% discount! With smiles on our faces we headed down Diablo Road with thoughts of lattes again landed at STARBUCK’S for that caffeine fix. Our destination now was the FARMER’S MARKET but not before a quick stop into COTTAGE JEWEL. Marcia is always stocked full of baubles and bangles that beckon you to try them on. There was a demonstration on how to make compost toilets going on at Cottage Jewel as part of the Spring Fling put on by DDA and Sustainable Danville. I know what you might be thinking BUT in light of the devastation in Japan this is something all of us should want to know.

With Matt tapping his toes (shopping isn’t his idea of fun) we made it to Farmer’s Market to buy fresh asparagus for dinner. Back on Hartz Avenue we crossed over for a poke into RAKESTRAW BOOKS. What a great bookstore and the cool thing is if Michael doesn’t have it they will order it for you and you can pick it up in just a couple of days. We were able to see the “Green” doghouse on display there that was manufactured by GAYLER CONSTRUCTION and is being raffled off to support the Sustainability program being promoted by the Town, the Chamber and DDA.

Time to start thinking of walking home but not before maybe heading back down Prospect Avenue to THAT BAR for a quick turkey burger that we highly recommend! We can’t wait to return there for dueling pianos and/or a glass of Rombauer.

With bellies full I popped into CHRISTINA’S FINE CLOTHING to purchase a camisole (aka “cami”). Matt has no idea what that means so he wandered to the chocolate shop. Stephanie has camisoles in a rainbow of colors and at a great price too! Out the door and major right turn as I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the new chocolate dipped caramel shortbread delights sprinkled with sea salt from DANVILLE CHOCOLATES! My rational was since I walked to town and had to walk back then this incredible eatable would burn off by the time I got home! If you haven’t had the sea salt caramels or their “Apple Pie” caramel apples you are certainly missing out on an incredible sweet experience!

By now our sugar rush has us practically running across the street where we ducked into MODA MI. Our very own Martha Levison was there to greet us! She graciously held all our packages for us as we are starting to think about the up hill hike home but not before I eyed a new spring top that was calling my name. Off we went very satisfied thinking about what a great town we live in and how happy we are to be able to experience. Now if only there was a passing taxi to take us back home!
