The Danville Community Band met for the first time September 20, 2001 under the baton of founder Dr. Lawrence Anderson after more than a year of planning. Since then the musicians have shown they are one of the premier musical groups in the Tri-Valley area. In December 2008, Dr. Anderson passed the baton and stepped down as Conductor and Musical Director. The band continues today under the direction of Robert Calonico
Although the Band is called the Danville Community Band, the town of Danville does not support them financially. They are a totally self-supporting 501(c) (3) non-profit organization and depend entirely on donations from the public.
